Passport for Good and Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York have announced a collaboration, through which Junior Achievement will allow its participating students to earn stamps in their Passport for Good passports when they participate in Junior Achievement in their schools.
Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York (JA) serves more than 14,000 students from 42 school districts throughout Northeastern New York. Its footprint spans 11 counties in the Mid-Hudson region, the Capital Region and the Adirondack region.
“The Junior Achievement mission is complementary to the Passport for Good mission, and partnering with Passport for Good makes perfect sense,” said Tovah Lisky, president of Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York. “Our JA volunteers educate students about how they can positively impact their communities as consumers, employees and employers. Passport for Good is encouraging many of the same students to engage with their communities and assisting those students and their schools to aggregate data on that engagement. The bottom line is the same: Both of our organizations are committed to improving our communities.”
Gayle Farman, founder and president of Passport for Good, said: “Passport for Good and JA are at work in many of the same schools, and our goals are in alignment. The Passport for Good team looks forward to amplifying the work performed by JA and Passport for Good, and pursuing an ambitious collective mission. This is a case in which the sum is definitely greater than the parts – JA’s work will enhance the Passport for Good platform, and vice versa. Junior Achievement is a highly valued program career development program that is not currently documented in the student transcript. Schools and students now have somewhere to capture what they are experiencing in their extracurricular Passport.”
About Passport for Good
Passport for Good offers a first-in-class, subscription-based Software as a Service (SaaS) to address the growing interest of schools, corporations and the criminal justice system to capture qualitative and quantitative information regarding the experiences of individuals and groups performing community service activities. The robust software and mobile application assists non-profit organizations by allowing them to communicate their needs and motivates individuals to do their part in making their communities stronger. It also centralizes data, automates the community service experience, and aggregates data across individuals and events to allow organizations to demonstrate community impact and to enhance linkages between service learning, skill development, and academic and career exploration. Prototyped by students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, it is now powered by a full team of senior software engineers. The company was formed in 2016 by Gayle Farman of Slingerlands, NY.
